Professional Skills

Our professional skills programme is divided into three parts, taught in terms 1 and 2:

1. C Programming
2. Team work, collaboration, project planning, and management. We put special emphasis on state-of-the-art development approaches (agile) with systematic (unit) testing, as well as software support (version control, continuous integration).
3. Ethics of data science and communication of science, including scientific writing and data presentation.
4. Entrepreneurial thinking.

All items are taught in blocks (one or two weeks, respectively) and rely very heavily on group work, workshops, and small team collaborations. They are very human-centric, i.e. do not require particular technical skills beforehand. We typically assess work here through individual and group presentations.
